Fire Academy starts on February 23rd. At our main fire station, we will train eight new volunteers to be firefighters. It will be rewarding, but also exhausting. The trainees and our volunteer instructors will train each weekend until May 25th. Our community is blessed to have so many dedicated volunteers.

Operations to mop up the fire at Marion Security Storage will continue into the night, but US-2 is now open to through traffic. The cause of the fire is under investigation. US-2 between Pleasant Valley Road and Gopher Lane is closed to traffic while firefighters battle a fire featuring small explosions at Marion Security Storage (across from Moose Crossing). Drivers needing to go to points west of Gopher Lane and east of Pleasant Valley Road can detour through Marion. Please, drive slowly while on lookout for responders and school children.

Last night, a homeowner on Round Mountain called 9-1-1 to report his house was on fire. Unfortunately, when firefighters arrived on scene, flames had fully engulfed the home.
