This will hopefully improve outcomes for patients in our district who are in dire straits during transport to the hospital. MFD's volunteer paramedics are licensed to provide cardiac monitoring and defibrillation, IV therapy, and the administration of certain drugs. If someone in our district...

Give Us a Brake!

At a recent staff meeting, Chief Katie Mast reported complaints from a few people that they "couldn't see" first responders during hours of darkness who were controlling traffic near emergency incident scenes. Generally, our first responders are wearing vests with blinking lights and they are using lighted "Stop/Slow" paddles. We are aware that drivers approaching incident scenes become fixated on...

Flathead Electric Cooperative (FEC) is giving us a $6,000 grant to purchase thermal imaging and multi-gas detection equipment. A chimney fire is the suspected cause of the fire that destroyed a home a couple of days ago on Round Mountain. Do you know what to do in the event of a chimney fire or, better...

Structure Fire–02/11/2018

Last night, a homeowner on Round Mountain called 9-1-1 to report his house was on fire. Unfortunately, when firefighters arrived on scene, flames had fully engulfed the home. Seventeen Marion FD volunteer firefighters responded to last night's structure fire, as well as firefighters from Smith Valley FD. Despite last night's bitter cold temperatures, the volunteers prevented the flames from spreading;...
