CPR and AED awareness week
June is observed as National Safety Month, and in addition, the first week of June is also CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) awareness week.
In the event of a medical emergency, do you know how to properly perform CPR? Or how to work an AED device? Taking it upon yourself to become trained and familiar on those two topics equips you with life saving skills during a cardiac emergency. Immediate CPR increases chances of survival for an individual experiencing a cardiac emergency. Empowering bystanders to act confidently during an emergency is an incredibly valuable skill.
Trainings on CPR are available through the American Heart Association and the Red Cross, as well as commonly put on through local community events.
For our local community, keep an eye out for dates of the next upcoming community CPR class. We highly encourage you to attend. Being trained in CPR is never a useless skill, and you could make the difference in saving a life in an emergency situation.
